The Rogue Prince of Persia

Developer Evil Empire has released a new community update video leading up to the release of roguelike platformer The Rogue Prince of Persia. After a prior update that detailed the game’s combat, weapons, and more, this time around, the community update focuses on the game’s core narrative, and talks about how the titular Prince can go back in time.

According to the trailer, the Prince has a bola—a small spherical piece of jewelry—that allows him to go back in time. The Prince has had this bola all his life, and while he doesn’t know who gave it to him, he has made use of its powers all his life to take huge risks in mastering his acrobatic abilities.

The video goes on to explain the setup of the game, including how the Prince found himself safe thanks to Sukhra after a disastrous encounter with a dark magic-using Hun army.

The game’s narrative takes place over a series of different runs, where players will attempt to take on tougher and tougher challenges as they get stronger in the game and better at playing it. The game will make use of its early access period to further refine its storytelling elements.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is coming to PC as an early access game on May 27.
