Forza Motorsport 6

Any discussion about the Xbox One’s cloud capabilities would be incomplete without mentioning Turn 10 Studios. The developer was the first to implement the cloud in Forza Motorsport 5’s Drivatar system and it looks like it will again be present in Forza Motorsport 6.

Executive producer Ryan Cooper spoke to GamingBolt and though he didn’t go into great detail regarding how the developer is using the Xbox One, he admitted that there was plenty of power behind it.

“We’re not disclosing a lot of details about how we’re utilizing the power of the Xbox One, but it’s an incredibly powerful box. We actually had the last 2 years to just learn more about the capabilities of the box and what the box can provide. As with any game, as time goes on you just have more time to work on the game and as you work more on the game you discover new ways to present things and build things that allow for the game experience to be better.”

As for whether the cloud came into play for the developer this time around, Cooper said, “Absolutely. The power of the cloud is providing the ability to update our Drivatar system to make Drivatars feels more realistic. So, absolutely. 24 Player multiplayer, we’re really excited about that and then off course Leagues. It’s something we’re gonna be talking about more later this Summer, but Leagues are essentially ranked competitive races strictly controlled by divisions.”

Forza Motorsport 6 will be out on September 15th in North America and September 18th in Europe for Xbox One.

The best gameplay and best looking racing game to date. Hands down.

    • JerkDaNERD7

Game is surprisingly fun racer. I would have never gotten into racers in the first place without Forza series. Now I act like I know a ton about cars. I now watch I the /Drive channel a lot on youtube.

    • Deeboy

Turn 10 gives a wealth of information about cars in their games. You can tell they love cars from the way they so care in developing their games.

    • Demetrius Radford

another channel id recommend is motor trend. the show roadkill is addicting to watch

    • Kfal Balli

I have been more of a Horizon fan, but I feel like I may miss out if I don’t buy Forza 6

    • Deeboy

Oh yeah. You get the best of both worlds there. Horizon 2 is in a league of its own. My Forza channel will be stacked by the end of September.

    • andy

Don’t forget to buy an additional 150 DLC cars that they will conveniently leave out since 2 games ago yet again.

    • Kfal Balli

Hmm I enjoyed both games so far without buying DLC…

The free cars were nice too.

Watch I get bashed by some pony for saying this; “We’re not disclosing a lot of details about how we’re utilizing the power of the Xbox One, but it’s an incredibly powerful”. Ryan does kinda fan the secret Secret Sauce talk.

He isn’t saying there’s HBM & a dual GPU in the system, as much as he maybe insinuating the GPU has some of the advanced Directx12 features the latest AMD and Nvidia cards support. That would substantiate Phil’s tweet: “We knew what Dx12 was doing when we built the Xbox”. People tend to think of “Power” in terms of Tflops, but no doubt a feature like Volume Tiled Resources would be a bomb imo.

      Although this demo was running on a GTX 980 Ti, here’s an example of its benefits;

    • Deeboy

Exactly. They didn’t spend 3 billion on research for nothing developing the Xbox one. This was in order to have a future proof device that can change with the times. All is being revealed as we speak and I have a feeling Crackdown will leave jaws dropped to the floor.

    • Zubayr Bhyat

Future proof? Doubt it. It’ll last, though.

    • Deeboy

Have you seen any other console that runs a virtual last Gen console inside its programming with completely different architecture?

    • Zorlac79

      No, they haven’t.
But don’t forget, anything outside of 1080/60 is beyond their comprehension, and even it itself is as well.
It is just a term they clutch tightly, even though they aren’t getting it either.

    • Deeboy

What? Xbox has had 1080 60fps games since launch.

    • Deeboy

My bad I’m arguing with a fan boy from another thread and posted it on the wrong one. LOL

    • andy

By still looking last gen and practically cartoony? How is that possible???

    • Deeboy

I work at an eye doctor office. We accept new patients.

    • GotNews4Ya

Aww.. how could you resist saying “We are currently SEEING new patients..”

    • Deeboy

Or new patients SEE the results.

    • nismo370z

      enjoy your underpowered crapbox

    • Deeboy

      I am thank you!

I don’t know. Ask Evolution studios how they did it at a last gen 30FPS

  • spideynut71

As long as a game has to be online anyway to play it, the “power of the cloud” is legit….but devs have to utilize it. I wish the X1 version of TESO:TU utilized the cloud…and XBOX Live servers in general. The game has been pretty much unplayable of late, between lagging and constant server issues that prevent login, or boot you out within minutes if you do manage to get in. As more people buy the game, it’s only going to get worse.

    • Graeme Willy

Yeah, MMO’s would be a great use of the cloud. On any platform. I think of this each time I play Elite Dangerous, on Xbox One. Instead of having all this hitching and lagging, offload some non-crucial data to the cloud and free up some performance. You have to always be online, as you say, so why not have NPC and the game’s weather and terrain dynamics be handled over cloud? It would leave resource enough to do more with the local rendering.

  • DarthDiggler

First party MS Studio touts the power of XBONE and the Power of the cloud.

    • Premature Procrastinator

Muppet leaves comment critical of plastic box and people who make games for it to bolster self esteem.

  • Lennox

The down playing of the cloud reminds of the broadband vs. dsl feud so long ago. Everyone was saying “Broadband won’t work,” “It’s too complicated.” Few years later, everything uses it. Not saying the cloud will have as big an impact as broadband connection. But people should learn not to count MS out so quick. ESPECIALLY if they know nothing about the matter at hand, other than just regurgitated quotes from naysayers.

    • Michael Norris

I am about to count MS out when it comes to cloud.Nothing has been said and if MS doesn’t show anything amazing at gamescom i will be inclined to call it bullshit marketing.

  • Jecht_Sin

So the PS4 is 40% more incredibly powerful? lol

    • Mark

Lol, I was kinda thinking the same. But he maybe talking about “power” differently than Tflops. Something like a GPU feature wouldn’t be a stretch imo.

Edit: I read his statement again, he’s probably talking about using tricks of the Xbox architecture..

    • *Also On PC

And is still marketing trash. LOL

Poor Andyscout losing his mind and bringing back the upvotes. Sony must have lost money again :^)

  • andy

Nope, nope nope nope nope. Take a player who plays the game. Make him drive his car and grind it against the wall for 5 ENTIRE races, the WHOLE track. Then check out his “Drivatar”. He drives like any other AI car on the road, not with the attitude or drive style that makes him what he is i.e. a person who likes to drive against the wall of the circuit non stop. How is that groundbreaking again?
Its the EXACT same thing as people who said Kinect was groundbreaking in, for example, Kinect Sports. Yet when you are in a relay race and do a handstand in front of Kinect did your avatar ingame do that or did they just continue running slower? EXACTLY, utter bullcrap.

    • *Also On PC

Good to see you are on the ball Andy. Looking forward to your meltdown with the” Groundbreaking” Project Morphalus only hitting 720P :^)

  • HAppY_KrAToS

Forza5 : 5 full years just to reach the 1080p mark… but the price to pay was near-xbox360 graphics, the biggest downgrade ever.

Of course, to make the Sony lineup look bad, and to make the x1 lineup look absolutely fantastic, the usual suspects: the same press that kept bashing Sony, last gen, and promoting the x360, by even hiding the RROD truth to 10’s millions future victims/innocents, that same press did all they could to make the x1 look amazing. As a result, tons of perfect 5/5 reviews-scores, where the authors did all they could, to not even talk about the downgrades, empty tracks, poor graphics, very few cars and tracks, the most expensive microtransactions system ever (gamers being told ‘hey, the game recommends you this fantastic car, that you can have for only real life $50 , or by winning the same race 150 times), among many other issues the authors ignored on purpose.
    ‘Hey, cars are shinning, 1080p , drivatards= that’s a great 5/5 !’

what else could people expect? With at least more than 50-100% more power, great indie support, tons of games being made, a much better price, and its future -proof gamer-friendly tag, there was only one thing press could do: give ultra low scores to all ps4 exclusive titles, and praise all the exclusive x1 titles, with perfect 5/5 scores. And so they did it.

Remember the 2/10 scores of Knack? I finished it a few weeks ago, and the game was a wonderful surprise, a great action title, with a great story, +12hours long. At least, a 7.5-8/10 game. But never, never, the 2/10 many haters gave it.

so yes, forza5 was not the 5/5 game that Sony haters like mister Hadam Sessliar have claimed.

It’s incredible, almost 2 years later, turn10 guys still believe there are still fan boys out there, who believe in the cloud thing, the 3x more power dx12 will bring to the x1, etc etc.

gamers are still waiting for that incredible lifelike full destructible game maps/levels , thanks to the clouds.

and Microsoft wasn’t still able to tell the truth about their cloud power: are there 300’000 independent multi-cpu-tons of ram servers?
or are there 4 or 5’000 servers running dozens of virtualized servers each, for a total of 300’000 virtual servers? We will never know the truth, for sure…

lol, if Sony could pay turn 10, 200 million $ for them to join Sony, suddenly, turn10 would be saying ‘damn, it’s really hard to reach the 900p on the x1, even by extremely reducing the textures and shaders quality, and by downgrading every single aspect in the game’.

Bonus: that fantastic forza5 downgrade that x box fans just hate seeing.

    • OC Guy

bitter, bitter, bitter fanboy….too bad with all the time you spent typing this itty bitty book of a rant you could have been out in the real world getting a real life. What a pathetic waste of time! LOL!

  • OC Guy

I have no idea why PS fanboy troll and PC master wasters come on to an article about a system they obviously don’t own to write ridiculously long rants as to why they made the best choice. Seems to me “if” they did indeed make the best choice they would be playing their games instead of taking large portions of their time to write multiple paragraphs at how others are wrong for a different preference. Some of you on here are simply nothing more than fools. Hilarious, yet pathetic fools. Oh well, sucks to be you! LOL

  • Sylmaron

All this talk. I believe him when Forza 6 looks better than Driveclub.

  • Kidd

So with the power of the cloud would it be able for Xbox one to do 4k gaming i think so.
