Those guys at Naughty sure do know the ins and outs of the PlayStation 3 pretty well.  With each and every Uncharted game they develop, the visual boundaries spreads more and more. The change was pretty obvious from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune to the 2009 game of the year Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.  Many thought that Naughty Dog has maxed out the PlayStation 3 and this is as far as the black beauty can go. But with our latest screenshot comparison, things proved to be otherwise.
We have compared 5 screenshots from different angles. Make sure you check them in the gallery below. All images cropped from 720P source. Also please open the image in a new window to see it in full screen.

Sully!

Sully!

My favourite character in the Uncharted franchise, Sully has undergone a major change. Again much like Drake, his facial modelling is prepped up for the sequel. But the major change is his detailed moustache. I know a lot of people won’t care how Sully’s moustache looks like, but certainly the people at Naughty Dog do. We would rather welcome the new and polished Victor Sullivan after all.

So what do you think? Don’t you guys think that Naughty Dog are on their game and Uncharted 3 is turning out to be a visual phenomena? Let us know in the comments below.

Awesome Stuff that you might be interested in

  • It is funny, but the pics used here for Uncharted 3 are confirmed pre-rendered by the developers themselves

Why make an article about something that you know nothing about ?

    • The screens from Uncharted 2 are also pre rendered and they are an accurate representation of how the game really looks. Naughty Dog’s real time gameplay always match the pre-rendered cut scenes. Just another 360 fanboy mad because Microsoft only has ONE exclusive worth buying this year. 😛

  • Definitely a step up in graphics. As long as the rest of the game doesn’t suffer because they concentrated too much on a grahpics upgrade then I will believe it was worth it. Fortunately, Naughty Dog has a history of getting it right. Looking forward to it.

  • Here the article that proves the above is pre-rendered (in engine, but rendered, not real time)

    So, the article is false

    @ Youknowwho

So are the Uncharted 2 screens; they are also pre-rendered. So what is your point?

  • Pre-rendered videos don’t mean they aren’t capable of being rendered in real time. They are probably pre-rendered to save power for stream lined loading. Just an idea of course.

  • mac

Stop the BS, its rendered realtime just like UnCh2. Dont be mad PC fanbois.

  • wut

    srsly…… you’ve used pre-rendered cinematics as a comparison.

Note to self, never come back here.

  • About Picture 5: “it looks pretty similar”

You Sir, i recommend you to visit an optometrist.

The scale in THIS Uncharted2 Picture looks much better than the Picture of Uncharted3. How can u NOT notice that?

  • Actually pre-rendered means that these graphics could be done on a 15 years old PC

  • Pingback: Uncharted 3’s Visual Evolution Is Phenomenal | comparison, Naughty Dog, PS3, Sony, Uncharted 3()

  • So who cares if it is rendered or not or if the person pointing out this photos may not be the finished product. Does it make him a xbox fanboy? If so then at least he is able to play online for the last 2 weeks unlike any ps3 owner trust me i know I own both and bought socom’s bundle to play online with and it sits there and sits there I can see the dust starting to form but ya lets call people fanboys that don’t see things like we do. I love drakes and cant wait but don’t be stupid he was just making a POINT

  • It is pre renderd, however uncharted in game graphics is pretty amazing too.
