Sega Merges With Sammy
Before ceasing production on the Dreamcast, Sega would merge with Sammy. The deal was done to garner some revenue from Sammy’s pachinko business and while it benefited Sega, it also meant less first party support for the Dreamcast (which the chairman of Sega didn’t mind too much, sadly enough). Suffice to say that players weren’t happy, especially after supporting Sega through so many failures.
