GRAND THEFT AUTO 5 – NO SINGLE PLAYER EXPANSIONS
When Grand Theft Auto 5 came out, there was little doubt in anyone’s mind that the game would be getting at least one major single player, story-driven expansion, and given what Rockstar had managed with the expansions for GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption, people were incredibly exciting about that. But then GTA Online happened. Players became obsessed with the game, pooling dozens or even hundreds of hours into the game’s online component, and Rockstar naturally started gravitating toward support for it. Over the last eight years, GTA Online has been instrumental to GTA 5’s ridiculous (and persistent sales), and it’s kept growing and changing to keep bringing more players in. Which is all well and good – there’s dozens of millions of people who love GTA Online – but that has also meant that there hasn’t even been a peep of single player story DLC. All of Rockstar’s attention has been dominated by GTA Online.
