Sure, 2011 was an awesome year for gaming, and we got tones of awesome video games- Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Deus Ex, Modern Warfare 3, Skyward Sword, Arkham City and a gazillion others (not really, but you get our point, right?). But that doesn’t mean everything was all daisy and sunshine this year- there were a lot of low points for us gamers, some that made us ashamed of the fact that we even existed, some that made us wish we were dead, and some that made us feel brain-dead. Here’re 10 of what we think were the worst games of 2011.

Enjoy (the list, ‘coz you’re never going to enjoy anything about these games), and give us your opinions on our opinions via your opinionated comments in the… well, comments section.

Also, please, if you haven’t done so yet, don’t play these games. If you have, then we’re sorry you had to go through that.

Mindjack

Mindjack from Square Enix is one of the worst games we’ve played this year. It’s a game that shows enormous potential that is squandered in the worst way imaginable. The premise is simple- You can enter into anyone’s campaign and control the enemies, which is a pretty good, innovative idea. But the execution is so terrible that it makes it seem the worst thing ever designed by game developers. Hard to believe we actually expected this game to be good when it was first announced.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel

Cartel is a highly disappointing game that totally squandered the good work done by the first game. I have no idea why the developers chose to utilize the modern setting, when the past games were set in the Wild West. It totally ruined the franchise, making it a mediocre first-person shooter that cannot distinguish itself from the rest in its genre. That would still be okay if it handled the mechanics properly, which it totally did not. It’s a terrible game with some of the worst dialogues you’ll ever seen in a video game.

X-Men: Destiny

The game is made by the same people who brought us Too Human. And it’s no surprise that this game, X-Men: Destiny is a succ – oh wait. Yes, this is a terrible game. So that’s one more achievement for Silicon Knights. There is not much to say here, only that this is one of the shallowest games we have seen. It’s an action game, but it would be best if you stay away from the action.

Bodycount

Bodycount was never an impressive game. All the trailers and screenshots that were shown before the game’s release only made people turn away from the game. I have no idea why Codemasters developed this FPS, because this truly is one hell of a mess. The visual presentation was terrible and was one of the main reasons why this game never took off; the story was bland and practically non existent and the gunplay was boring. Codies should stick to racing games- that is what they do best.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

The first Ghostbusters game was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, and it was, well, not that terrible. However, the one released this year is a terrible game. Why? Because if you don’t know what the word repetitive means, you have to play this game. That’s it. But no, you shouldn’t play this game so it’s better if you google the damn thing. The game design is almost basic, which involves you clearing waves of enemies to proceed. That’s not a bad thing, however, but the way it is implemented here is just inexcusable. Then we have the AI. When you’re not playing with friends, you probably shouldn’t play the game at all, because the friendly AI is worse than the enemy AI, which is unforgettably bad as well.
