5. Radiant Historia

Chrono Trigger is one of, if not the, best JRPG ever made. Radiant Historia takes a lot of what made Chrono Trigger great, but expands upon it in unexpected ways. Released for the DS in 2011 (in North America, it was in 2010 in Japan), RH suffered from being released just as hype was building for next gen handhelds like the 3DS. Though unfairly drowned out by this fanfare, the game features awesome grid based combat, an intriguing plot and multiple narrative paths that affect other areas of time in space in this non-linear adventure. Though most people have never heard of it, this is one DS game all RPG fans should own.
