PS3 BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY
Backward compatibility is something that people always ask about when new consoles are on the horizon, and such was, of course, the case with the PS3 as well. Prior to its launch, Sony promised that the console would be able to play both PS1 and PS2 games- and for a time, they lived up to that promise. Eventually though, the PS3’s backward compatibility support started gradually diminishing with new models, and by the end, there was no legacy support on the PS3 at all. The generation after that, the PS4 would have no backward compatibility right out the gate- though thankfully, the PS5 is at least going to be able to play most PS4 titles.
