We love Resident Evil. Many people do. But even the most avid fans of Capcom’s survival horror franchise acknowledge – and perhaps even appreciate – the fact that over the years, the series has been a meme factory. Through its many ups and downs, even when it was at its very best, Resident Evil has delivered moments, sequences, or even characters as a whole that have made us cringe out of our skin. This is a feature dedicated to Resident Evil’s cringiest heights.

JILL SANDWICH – Resident Evil 1

You knew we were going to start with this one- years of jokes, memes, callbacks, and references have turned this into a moment that fans of the series actually look back on with great fondness, but the sheer campiness of this moment cannot be understated. Barry Burton is an absolute badass, but telling Jill – who almost got crushed to a pulp in a deathtrap – that she was moments away from becoming a “Jill Sandwich” was not his finest moment.
