I Am Alive
Having navigated through the tangled remains of Haventon following “The Event” that shook America to its core, the protagonist has been surviving bandits, the tangled environment ripped down by earthquakes and the desperate survivors who are just doing what they have to do to try to save his wife and daughter. At the climax, Carlo manages to summon a boat to rescue himself and three other survivors they’ve linked up with, but one is captured. The hero sends the two women away on the boat and goes after the other man, only for the game to be revealed as the recorded tapes of his adventures, being watched by a woman who appears to have his gear. Who is this woman? Why does she cry when the video is over? Never to be answered.
