Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Lighting

That a Metal Gear Solid game looks good is really not a shock or surprise- Kojima’s flagship series has always set graphical standards with each new release, and it’s not exactly a shock that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain looks like it will do that too. Every single new video of the the game that we’ve received so far has been stunning- The Phantom Pain is a looker, all right- and it becomes even more so when you consider that it is maintaining these graphics across a staggeringly open world. That right there is some technical wizardry by Kojima and his crew.

One thing that everyone, even the layman, can appreciate instantly (even though they might not be able to put a word to it) is the game’s lighting, which is miles ahead of anything we have seen on consoles so far, and certainly much better than the lighting in any other Meta Gear game previously. Kojima’s absolute master of light and shadow in this case creates a compelling world that actually does justice to his vision and the story that he is trying to tell.
