You are the controller was a fun idea at first, but the first Kinect was hardly the Holodeck as Microsoft was trying to sell it. A few natural concepts like Kinect Sports came out of the husk we once called Rare, but mostly the motion control camera was held back by the same problem we’re finding with VR, how do you tackle player movement when they can’t leave a 5 square foot box where the Kinect can see you? Between the limitations and trying to push it on the more mature Xbox market, the Kinect was long tossed aside by the time Microsoft tried a more powerful version with the Xbox One.
