Anti-climatic Payoffs
Some endings offer pay-off that isn’t satisfying at all, coming out of nowhere to conveniently end the game. Fable 2 sets Lucien up as this horrible tormentor – who even goes out of his way to kill the hero’s dog – but he’s summarily disposed off in the finale. Hilariously, if you hesitate to kill Lucien, Reaver will do it for you. Firewatch is another great example, creating a creepy atmosphere before throwing a curveball out of nowhere and ending without Henry even meeting Delilah.
