Gears of War 1-3
Whilst technically not a trilogy, the first three games in Microsoft’s storied Gears franchise focus so heavily on Marcus and his battle against the Locust Horde that they can be considered a self-contained trio. Gears of War is a genre-defining cover-based third-person shooter with a surprising amount of narrative depth. Its gunplay was its strength, with developer doing little to embellish the already winning formula throughout the course of these first three games.
