Metal Wolf Chaos
Sure, more players might have joined in with the remaster’s release in 2019 (though less than 400 Steam reviews might indicate otherwise). But Metal Wolf Chaos was, from the outset, destined to be niche. It launched only in Japan in 2004 and only for Xbox which – spoilers – wasn’t all that big in the region. The story’s over-the-top nature combined with destructible environments and mech combat is bombastically entertaining even if the underlying systems are weak. Regardless, Metal Wolf Chaos is a fun if forgettable cult favorite.
