The brutal shooter was released in a very unique way for 1993. The first set of levels was available to download for free, but the rest of the game cost $40 and players had to mail the money to id Software in order to receive the files. While an episodic structure is very common today, it was a very different way to buy a game back in the day, which is why it’s still remembered today.
