Resurrection
As anyone who’s died even once in Dark Souls or Bloodborne will tell you, a large portion of the difficulty is due to the nature of death. Die once, respawn at the nearest checkpoint and try again (besides the whole “Losing Souls/Blood Echoes aspect”). Sekiro subverts this by introducing Resurrection – the player can rise up after dying and get the drop on unsuspecting foes. However, Resurrection won’t be available all the time and the overall vision won’t be compromised to appeal to certain players. Finally, if that weren’t enough, Miyazaki believes the mechanic will make the game harder since “It allows us to push the edge of risky combat where the player can die at any moment.”
