Resident Evil Village
Following up after the Baker family incident in Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village opens up on a rather happy note as we see Ethan and Mia living a peaceful life with their baby daughter Rose. Of course, things wouldn’t last as such for long – as Chris Redfield storms the gates out of nowhere and kills Mia, and abducts Ethan and Rose. Separated from his family, Ethan finds himself deserted in the middle of nowhere and proceeds to a nearby village which kickstarts the actual events of the game. While later revelations do entirely change the purpose of Chris’ invasion, it certainly feels really dark when it happens the first time around.
