Hidden Agenda

Developer Supermassive of Until Dawn fame released Hidden Agenda for the PS4 in 2017, and it was supposed to act as a flagship title for Sony’s PlayLink feature which tried to marry the convenience of smartphone controls with the graphical fidelity and scope of a AAA game. Hidden Agenda follows the story of multiple serial killings done by the titular Trapper, and players search for clues through their smartphones and cast votes on decisions critical to the story. While it’s a novel concept on its own that could make for a good time with friends, Hidden Agenda’s narrative is woefully predictable which dulls the charm of fighting over what decision to make and what path to take. Furthermore, using your smartphone to search for clues ends up being a finicky experience – which makes Hidden Agenda a pretty disappointing release that also failed to generate any interest in PlayLink-based games.
