Haurchefant’s Sacrifice – Final Fantasy 14: Heavensward
Some deaths, as survivors of the Seventh Umbral Calamity will attest, can’t be prevented. Still, it was sad to see Haurchefant Greystone meet his demise. Haurchefant isn’t like other Ishgardians, welcoming newcomers to Dragonhead and generally being upbeat in life. When joining the Warrior of Light in Heaven’s Ward however, he jumps in front of a spear and sacrifices himself to protect them. Despite everyone’s concern, Haurchefant says, “Oh, do not look at me so. A smile better suits a hero” before passing away, simply relieved that his dear friend – the player character – is safe.
