Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 was the entry that established the series into what it is today, and a lot of that was instilled in its opening. A group of friends hits up some coastal islands on their vacay with little care in the world, but their paradise quickly turns into a nightmare as they land on an island ruled by bands of bloodthirsty pirates. The main villain, Vaas, is downright brutal, killing off most of the party-goes and selling everyone else into slavery. Far Cry continues to carry the ruthless villain emphasis that 3 established to this day.
