Starting to sense a pattern here? This is yet another quote that sees Metal Gear’s characters talking about the hellish realities of war- notably enough, it also comes from one of the first games in the series. Big Boss telling Snake that no matter who wins their fight, that the winner would have to continue living out their days as a soldier on the battlefield, was one of the series’ earliest reminders to its players that there are no actual winners in these horrible situations.
