YAKUZA 0

yakuza 0 slugger style

Yakuza’s brawler combat has always been the video game equivalent of comfortable junk food- not incredibly fancy, and not particularly unique, but undeniably enjoyable. Yakuza 0 takes that formula to new heights that no other game in the series has been able to touch since then. Kiryu and Majima both have four fighting styles each, and each feels meaningfully different from each other, with Majima’s Slugger style being a standout. Add to that Yakuza’s typically over-the-top Heat Actions and a solid and engaging progression system to help flesh out each style even further, and you have a combat system that, though not incredibly complex, is always a hell of a lot of fun.
