Not a lot is known about Nightmare or his place in the Five Nights at Freddy’s lore (which is still a thing, don’t ask). But one theory is that he’s Death personified and that demonic looking husk isn’t even his true form. Nightmare is encountered in, shockingly enough, Nightmare Mode where he appears on Nights 7 and 8. More aggressive and always appearing at the doorway, Nightmare is the ultimate test for one’s wits.
