Residing in the Dragon Shrine, speaking to the Ancient Dragon advances the story. Of course, you could also attempt to kill it afterwards because who wouldn’t? It’s a real task though, mostly because of its immense health pool (19840 HP) and super-damaging fire attacks with huge AoE. Granted you could obtain complete fire immunity but you’ll still need to manage its stomps and tail whips. Even if you go for the safest method of attacking and backing off as far as possible, this fight can drag on. No pun intended, of course.
