WWE 2K20
Released in October 2019, WWE 2K20 was so awful on so many levels that 2K Sports outright canceled its follow-up. While it could be viewed as a quick cash-grab, especially given the focus on Becky Lynch who had exploded in popularity and became a cover athlete, it was actually the result of years of terrible releases. Bugs, bugs and more bugs; extensive performance issues; wrestlers that looked nothing like their real-life counterparts; and of course, loot packs had finally broken the fan base. 2K Sports announced in April 2020 that it was skipping that year’s release in favor of spending more time and resources on a worthy sequel. It still released WWE 2K Battlegrounds, which wasn’t very good in its own right, but that’s another story entirely.
