The Surge follows the Souls formula of being fairly easy when introducing its mechanics. Get to the first boss, namely a huge mechanical walker named P.A.X., and suddenly the difficulty ramps up. P.A.X. deals hefty damage simply by stepping on you and has a pretty decent health pool. Compared to the Souls games’ bosses, P.A.X. comes across as kind of “meh” but he’s tough for beginners all the same.
