Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 - Omega Planetes

Capcom’s quarterly financial results have been revealed, and if you thought Monster Hunter Wilds fumbled post-launch, it’s even worse than imagined. The latest mainline title in the action RPG series sold only 160,000 units for the quarter ending September 31st, 2025. That’s below 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise, which sold 254,000 units in the same period.

Monster Hunter Wilds initially released with a staggering 10 million+ units sold in its first month, the fastest Capcom title in history to achieve this total. However, a lackluster endgame and performance complaints, especially on PC, hampered it. This reflected in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, where it sold 477,000 units.

Capcom previously confirmed that it would “address issues” with the title “where possible” in future patches, as indicated by GPU and CPU optimizations coming with Title Update 4 in December. It also moved random Talismans from Title Update 3 (which added Omega Planetes from Final Fantasy 14) to a patch in August. Unfortunately, these moves don’t seem to have affected the bottom line, at least in the short term.

December will also see the addition of Gogmazios, the game’s first Elder Dragon. The development team has yet to confirm whether Wilds will receive a new expansion and when, but it could help boost sales. In the meantime, check out our review for the base game.
