Capcom has taken to social media to acknowledge the technical issues faced by Monster Hunter Wilds players on PC. In a post on X, the company has revealed that it has plans to address these technical issues, which revolve around reducing CPU and GPU usage and general optimisation. While there is no set date for the release of these optimisation updates, Capcom has stated that it is targeting the release of Title Update 4, which is scheduled for release in December.
“To our hunters playing [Monster Hunter Wilds] on PC, we’re committed to listening to your feedback and improving both performance and stability of the game,” posted the company on social media, going on to mention that it has plans for testing and “mitigation measures” even after the release of the December update.
“Although we will continue to implement gradual improvements in the weeks ahead, we are targeting Free Title Update 4 this winter to implement a multifaceted plan, including CPU and GPU related optimizations, followed by a second stage of mitigation measures afterwards.“
Far from the first time that Capcom had addressed technical issues with Monster Hunter Wilds, the company had said back in July that it was going to address and fix issues “where possible” through title updates. The company has also confirmed that it is reviewing player feedback about the title and its performance issues.
These recent acknowledgements of performance issues and Capcom outlining a solid plan to rectify them likely comes from reports of Monster Hunter Wilds sales having gone soft over the past fiscal quarter. The company reported back in July that the latest game in the Monster Hunter franchise had sold 477,000 in the preceding quarter. This was considered a major drop-off in sales for the title, since it had sold more than 10 million copies in its first month alone.
In the meantime, Capcom has also been working at adding more content to Monster Hunter Wilds. Aside with the massive Title Updates that have so far added three hunts to the game, more recently, Monster Hunter Wilds also got a major addition to endgame content thanks to the addition of 9-star monster quests and a new system that revolves around Talismans with randomised skills.
These higher difficulty hunts can only be taken on by players that have reached Hunter Rank 100, at which point hunts for Tempered versions of Uth Duna, Jin Dahaad, Rey Dau, Gore Magala, Lagiacrus, and other monsters will become available at 9-star difficulty levels. Taking on these quests will reward players with new Talismans with randomly-generated skills that can be used to supplement armour builds.
Capcom also released an update back in July that, along with bringing with it the Festival of Accord: Flamefete to celebrate the summer, also made the two Arch-Tempered quests in the game – Uth Duna and Rey Dau – permanent quests that players could take on without having to worry about the Event Quests calendar. As part of the move, Capcom has also confirmed that future Arch-Tempered hunts will also be available permanently on release.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.
