No Man’s Sky
Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky topped many news headlines prior to its release when CEO Sean Murray waxed lyrical about all the endless possibilities of his upcoming game, which definitely rang many alarm bells across the industry. But because games governed by procedural generation were relatively nascent across the games industry, No Man’s Sky got the benefit of the doubt – but that didn’t amount to much because the game ended up being a faint shadow of what was originally promised. The procedural generation was lackluster, resulting in tons of planets being practically the same in terms of exploration and aesthetics. Combine that with the barebones campaign, and No Man’s Sky quickly became one of the biggest disappointments of its time. But Hello Games has continued to put in the work since release, and regular content updates have slowly and steadily fixed most issues with the game. As it stands, No Man’s Sky has become one of the best space games on the market.
