Making you feel helpless is always priority #1 for survival horror games, and boy does Resident Evil 7 take that responsibility to heart. More than almost any other game in the genre, it excels at making you feel scarily vulnerable. Not only are you playing as a vanilla, normal dude – a far cry from the super-capable action heroes and heroines who usually take centerstage in horror games – you also find yourself in an oppressive environment where there’s the threat of an abrupt and violent death around every claustrophobic corner.
