Black Myth: Wukong seems a shoo-in for game of the year nominations owing to its fantastical environments, immersive graphics, ferocious combat, dense lore, complex characters, and any other superlative you can think of for a Souls-adjacent title. Adding individuality however, Chinese developer Game Science are borrowing loosely from literary classic Journey to the West for the game’s story and characters, a fable recounting a mythical protector on their journey through folkloric lands.
