MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA
As the first chapter in a new saga of one of the most beloved and consistent franchises in the industry, Mass Effect Andromeda had a lot to live up to. It’s fair to say that it fell short of expectations. Bogged down by its own issues, falling victim to pre-release ridicule for its unpolished facial animations, and being subject to the kind of skepticism any EA game warrants- a deadly combination of three things that proved to be the game’s undoing. But it wasn’t nearly as bad as most made it out to be. At the end of the day, it was still a meaty game with excellent combat, and its story did some really interesting things that could have gone to some fascinating places with sequels. Now, given how much backlash the game is usually associated with, both EA and BioWare want to remove themselves from its memory as much as possible- which feels a little unfair, and quite disproportionate to the game’s actual quality, especially now that post-launch patches have fixed many of its most glaring technical issues.
