DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED

deus ex mankind divided

A triple whammy of multiple pre-release controversies related to the game’s marketing and the way Square Enix handled pe-orders, an abrupt ending, and poor sales meant that with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the series lost all the momentum it had gained after the incredible Human Revolution. In particular, criticisms about the game being unfinished really hurt it, while Square Enix deciding to put the series on ice did the game no favours either. But while there were certainly issues with the game that could not be ignored, we feel the pros far outweighed the cons. Mankind Divided was – at least mechanically speaking – an improvement over its predecessor in every way, from the side quests to the combat to the boss fights to the stealth, and so much more. We hope Square Enix and Eidos Montreal return to the franchise sooner rather than later, because we’d love to see them do more of what they did with Mankind Divided (but, you know, with an actual ending this time).
