Castlevania

Castlevania has had its ups and downs over the last decade. There were winners like Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth which stuck to the traditional side-scrolling format. However, there were also downers like Harmony of Despair and Judgement. Things seemed somewhat back on track with Lords of Shadow in 2010 but it was followed by the dismal Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, a poor take on the Metroidvania formula, and Lords of Shadow 2. There is some hope that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Koji Igarashi’s spiritual successor to the franchise, can bring back some of the magic. But for now, Castlevania is very much resting in peace.
