Okay, so Elden Ring was always showing promise. It’s a FromSoftware game with world-building help from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. However, the game’s marketing didn’t give a lot away aside from declaring it open world. Truth is, Elden Ring didn’t look any different from other Soulsborne games, which of course garnered a modicum of negativity from expectant fans. The breadth of this open world revealed itself following release, and despite FromSoft’s pedigree it’s fair to say they’ve gone beyond all expectations with Elden Ring.
