HARDWARE DECOMPRESSION (XBOX SERIES X)
The Xbox Series X is also doing some interesting stuff as far as its decompression techniques are concerned. Its hardware decompression will use a dedicated component to ensure that games use up as little space on the SSD as possible, which, again, means the CPU gets freed up to do other work- and do it much better. By its very nature, it isn’t something that Microsoft can (or will) market to larger audiences, but for those who care about this stuff, it can potentially be a game-changer.
