KRAKEN (PS5)
The PS5 makes use of pretty exciting decompressing tech- using RAD’s new Kraken format, it essentially compresses data with 10 per cent more efficiency, which means there’s more that it can process and read. As a comparison, it would take 9 regular Zen 2 CPUs to be able to compress that same data. Of all the PS5 details that have been revealed thus far, this is probably among the things that only the most tech-savvy people will care about, but as developers across the industry would tell you, it’s something that bears mentioning, at the very least.
