Soulcalibur was a franchise that flew unbelievably high with its very first entry, so the pressure was certainly on for its sequel to deliver something that could live up to that standard. Soulcalibur 2 very much lived up to those expectations. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel and mess around too much with a proven formula, Soulcalibur 2 instead further perfected and refined the framework of its predecessor, delivering a tight, mechanically dense, and surprisingly accessible fighter that was more than good enough to provide endless hours of entertainment.
