An over-saturated market and huge $600 dollar price point made the 3DO an instant fail. Despite this, the console was actually way ahead of its time in terms of hardware, and was capable of playing high end PC ports like Myst and Alone in the Dark. That said, $600 is a hell of a lot of money for decent console ports, even if the 3DO could play various multimedia aside from games.
