35. De-emphasis on 3D gaming
3D gaming came so close to making a splash on its debut but instead it never really picked up. 3D gaming is something that won’t be forgotten as Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and Killzone 3 both looked fantastic in 3D, but it is unlikely that many future games will utilize this feature. Firstly 3D gaming went completely in the wrong direction and it failed to garner interest as there was never a steady stream of good content. Then there was the issue of consumers needing to pick up a 3D TV – an impossibility, considering that most of us are still working to pick up HD displays. Health risks and cost of 3D glasses is also a concern and at the end of the day, it’s a wonder that 3D gaming ever got the support that it did when it was first introduced.
