Developers love the new controller as much as everyone else, it seems.

The Dualshock 4, Sony’s new redesigned controller for the PS4, has been winning rave reviews and accolades ever since people got a chance to get their hands on it. Now, it’s not just the media raving about it, but developers too. The developers for Blacklight Retribution, for example, Zombie Studios, whose port for the PC F2P hit will be one of the PS4’s launch games, and consequently also one of its first shooters (and therefore one of the first shooters to demonstrate proper- or improper- usage of the controller) is one such studio that seems to have fallen in love with the new controller.

Speaking about ergonomics and console controllers, Zombie Studios’ communication manager Collin Moore explained, “For ergonomics in the controls; we saw it last generation with Halo, Halo pretty much defined how people held the Xbox with the old Duke controller,” Moore said. “Sony’s made some really good updates to the DualShock. When we got our hands on it and started playing, we were like, ‘Holy crap, I think I’ve found my new favorite controller.'”

That’s high praise, especially coming from a developer of a PC game, where the Keyboard/Mouse combo, along with the unlimited flexibility for inputs that a PC can afford, is something simply beyond anything any console can achieve.

The Dualshock 4 will be the Playstation 4’s default controller. Both retail sometime later this year.
