The rumored story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is indeed real, as officially confirmed by director Koshi Nakanishi. After cycling through several joke images (including one that seemingly hinted at Leon’s marriage), he revealed that it would “delve deeper into the world of Requiem.”

“We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it.” Until then, fans can expect several free updates, including Photo Mode and a new mini-game. The return of The Mercenaries, perhaps, which would explain this listing about Rosemary Winters being in the game?

Time will tell, but the development team is committed to supporting Resident Evil Requiem, which sold over five million copies in less than a week.

As for the expansion, rumors claim that it follows Leon S. Kennedy instead of Alyssa Ashcroft as initially assumed. The actual plot remains to be revealed, but it’s allegedly late in development and could thus arrive closer to Requiem’s release than expected.

Of course, Capcom reportedly has much more in the works, including rumored remakes of Resident Evil: Code – Veronica, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 1 (though the latter is seemingly a long way off). There’s also the next mainline Resident Evil, which is reportedly in the works and should launch by 2029 at the earliest (assuming everything goes well).

Code – Veronica Remake is apparently first, with a reveal this year and a launch in the first half of 2027, so stay tuned for more updates.
