Final Fantasy XV: Noctis and Friends Get Official Bios

Who are these people? Why the hell are they fighting?

When it was still Final Fantasy Versus XIII, we got small little scraps of details about what Final Fantasy XV was about – there was even some rumblings that it followed William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Now, as part of a more open approach, we have official character bios along with the background story to tell us just what the hell is happening.

Simply put, the world is plunged into chaos when the Kingdom of Lucis is over-run by the forces of Niflheim, as they seek to capture the last crystal in the world through all-out invasion. But Crown Prince Noctis and his friends aren’t having any of that shit, home boy, as they mount a counter-offensive against Niflheim.

Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the throne of Lucis, is a roguish type of character, who has the ability to sense other’s deaths through an odd heavenly light. He’s not the royalty type though, and can be brash but defensive of his comrades. Gladiolus Amicitia is a lord of the House Amicitia and is part of a line to protect the Lucis royalty. However, he shares a more brotherly bond with Noctis.

Ignis Scientia is the logical one, and acts as Noctis’ counsel more often than not, hoping to do so in an official capacity for the king some day. Prompto Argentum is Noctis’ friend from their school days, and is a rich boy who’s been on the outside of the royal circle but is eager to fight for the resistance.

Finally, Cor Leonis (see if you can guess where they got that name from) is the so-called “living legend of Lucian lore” and Lord Commander sworn to protect and oversee the group.

As of now, no release date has been announced but Final Fantasy XV will be arriving on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
