Bioware Still Undecided on Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer

Multiplayer won't just be shoehorned into upcoming RPG.

Dragon Age Inquisition (2)

Bioware seems to be making the right moves (more or less) with Dragon Age Inquisition (their shameless ripping off of the Elder Scrolls UI notwithstanding); now, they’ve said something else that should help assure players that they are approaching the development of this game with the right mindset. Unlike other Bioware or EA published games, which almost always end up shoehorning some sort of online multiplayer element just because, Bioware has confirmed that while it is looking at the option, it’s not convinced about the inclusion of multiplayer gameplay in the game yet.

“The Mass Effect multiplayer stuff was really good, so we’ve certainly looked at options like that,” Bioware producer Cameron Lee told The Official Xbox Magazine. “But we haven’t decided on anything in terms of multiplayer [for Dragon Age: Inquisition] at this point.

“Shooters are really easy to make,” he added. “Well, not exactly ‘easy’ to make as a multiplayer game – but certainly there’s a known quantity to what you want to try and create.”

So at the very least we know they won’t just try to shoehorn multiplayer into the game, and will only pursue the option if it makes sense. Wow, Bioware. That’s actually unexpectedly sensible of you.
