Titanfall

We’ve heard the story a million times: Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall would only be on Xbox since it suited the game best, especially with Microsoft’s Azure servers. Though there was – and continues to be – interest in the PS4 as a console, but Respawn is adamant that Titanfall will only be on Xbox.

But how did it all go down? According to NeoGAF user and insider famousmortimer, “Respawn wanted to focus on a single console as they were a small team. In 2011 and 2012 Microsoft was behind the scenes selling their vision for the Xbox One. At the same time Sony was gathering info but not really sharing it. The vast majority of the industry thought that Microsoft was going to dominate this gen… until one year ago, tomorrow.

“Respawn picked the XB1 because it seemed like the better choice. MS was pushing it. Sony was mum. The 360 dominated the US and western EU, which is where FPS are king. It was a no-brainer.”

Also, contrary to the recent Titanfall artbook, there won’t be any giant monsters or aliens to battle. “Talked to a contact at EA I trust explicitly. The monsters are in the skybox. There’s one MP-story based fight with a non-human that could hardly be called a ‘giant monster’.

Titanfall is currently scheduled to release for Xbox One and PC on March 11th in North America and March 14th in Europe, with the Xbox 360 version releasing two weeks later.
