Ubisoft’s The Crew Will Have Microtransactions

Sounds like a questionable design decision, but we'll see.

The Crew

At last E3, Ubisoft announced The Crew, their next generation racing game effort exclusively for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC that would always be connected and deliver players an MMO racing experience. Now, they have begun to talk more about it.

For example, Ubisoft confirmed today the existence of microtransactions in the game, reports VideoGamer.

“We can confirm that performance parts can be unlocked through progression as well as microtransactions,” a Ubisoft said. “All content can be unlocked through progression, but for busy gamers who want to save some time, they will have the opportunity to buy some items in-game.”

“Everything in the game has got this dual currency approach,” creative director Julian Gerighty had mentioned earlier. “We’re not going to stop you from progressing if you don’t spend money, but it’ll be more time.”

It sounds like the kind of approach that could rub the hardcore gaming community off the wrong way, but we’ll see how it goes. Stay tuned.
