E3 2013 was a memorable event, specially for Sony and its legion of followers. The moment Andrew House and Jack Tretton announced the price point and ripped apart Microsoft’s DRM policies respectively, it went down as a truly historic moment in video games. Most of that was because of Microsoft’s own doing, something they have managed to fixed to an extent.

One year later, we are just a few hours away from Sony’s press event. The obvious question is will Sony do it again and manage to surpass what they did in 2013?

“I think that was a very special moment in time,” explained Andrew House who is the president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. “It’s going to be extremely challenging to surpass the levels of excitement that we had last year. What I hope we’ll do at E3 this year is get people very excited about where PS4 is headed. We’ve got some great games [and] some great franchises that are coming to the platform that’ll keep people excited about PlayStation 4, or will be the prompt that’ll bring new people on board,” he said in an interview with Edge.

Andrew is pretty correct about such moments don’t happen every year and Sony did well to capitalize on Microsoft’s weakness back then. But the Redmond based company is firing all cylinders at the moment and it will be interesting to see what both companies will have in store for us this E3.
