Remember Blizzard’s Project Titan? An MMORPG that was pegged to be the successor to Warcraft which was eventually delayed and it’s team members re-assigned to other projects? We no longer have to wonder when it will be out as the developer revealed to investors in a recent financial call that the project has been cancelled.

Speaking to Polygon, co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime said that while the goal was to create “the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine,” it just “didn’t come together.”

“We didn’t find the fun. We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.”

SVP of franchise and story development Chris Metzen further stated that, “The discipline of knowing when to quit is important. We were losing perspective and getting lost in the weeds a little. We had to allow ourselves to take that step back and reassess why the hell we were doing that thing in the first place.”

As of now, it doesn’t make sense for Blizzard to focus on another MMORPG when it has World of Warcraft and more importantly, it doesn’t want to be identified as a company that simply creates MMOs. Thoughts on the cancellation? Let us know below.
