Star Wars Battlefront

Depending on how much you love Star Wars Battlefront, this news either pleases you or doesn’t sit too well with you. As was already confirmed, EA DICE’s upcoming take on Star Wars Battlefront will support character customisation in-game, this is a big change for the Battlefront games.

Community Manager Mathew Everett has recently spoken about this on Reddit when he said, “Yes, you will be able to customize your characters in a number of ways, from selecting various character models and loadouts to choose your emotes that best suit your playing style. We’re going for an authentic, immersive Star Wars experience that makes you feel like you’re a part of this galaxy.”

“That said, we won’t be letting players create purple Stormtroopers or change Darth Vader’s suit to orange. The team wants to maintain a level of immersion that they are striving to create. We will be jumping into further detail around customization in the near future.”

The obvious downside of character customisation in Star Wars Battlefront is that it’s lore breaking (Imperial Units used a standardised loadout, Rebels not-so-much, but the point stands because they had access to limited resources) and that it removes the natural game balance which so popularised the game that was introduced by having a level playing field across all players.

Gameplay Director for the game, Gustav Halling also spoke a little bit on the nature of gameplay in missions by way of Twitter, where he said, “There will be a variety of missions which includes a lot of bot target practice and others with bots and objectives :)”

A new piece of news however, is that the game will only run in 30fps in split screen co-op, which is absolutely a fair trade off.  This came from the official EA Star Wars Twitter feed which stated, “Star Wars Battlefront will run at 60fps, except during split-screen co-op when it runs at 30fps.”
